  1. This directory contains the language specification for a temporal
  2. extension to the SQL-92 language standard. This new language is
  3. designated TSQL2.
  4.  
  5. The language specification present here is the final version of the
  6. language.
  7.  
  8. Associated with the language specification is a collection of
  9. commentaries which discuss design decisions, provide examples, and
  10. consider how the language may be implemented. These commentaries were
  11. originally proposals to the TSQL2 Language Design Committee. They now
  12. serve a different purpose: to provide examples of the constructs,
  13. motivate the many decisions made during the language design, and
  14. compare TSQL2 with the many other language proposals that have been
  15. made over the last fifteen years. It should be emphasized that these
  16. commentaries are not part of the TSQL2 language specification per se,
  17. but rather supplement and elaborate upon it. The language
  18. specification proper is the final word on TSQL2.
